On April 15th 2023, Tol Cisumdawu Bandung-Kertajati will begin operations, providing more welcome news in the effort to get ready for Mudik Lebaran 2023. Mudik Lebaran is an Indonesian tradition which sees citizens returning to their home cities and towns and reconnecting with their families each year.
The new tol will help facilitate that process of returning home and it is expected to reduce congestion and delays on the crowded roads leading to destinations around the country during the Mudik period. It should also help stimulate the economic climate of the local areas, as transportation and retail industries should see an uptick in revenue.
The tol Cisumdawu Bandung-Kertajati will be designated for passenger transportation, freight and heavy goods vehicles. It has two lanes for each side, allowing for smooth movement of traffic and supporting the government’s goal of reducing traffic congestion. Aside from the tol, additional road infrastructure such as service lanes, additional lanes, and improved intersection ramps have been included along the 18 kilometers of road that make up the tol.
Furthermore, there are plans to open other tols in different destinations throughout the country, although more time is needed to put all the necessary plans in place. These tols will support the effort to increase the economic benefits associated with the Mudik trends, as we can expect more people to spend their money within their local area on goods and services that are needed during the Mudik season.
In the end, this new tol is but one way to support those who wish to fully experience the joys of Mudik Lebaran 2023 and it’s a great way to maximize the economic impact that comes with the lebaran season.
